About

Irish Ch Balletcor Wonderous Collaboration

Zac

After buying in two American Pembrokes we went looking for a dog not related to them and after a search decided to breed our own in America with Mary Marshall in Michigan.

We sourced a girl and Mary saying we needed a Champion dog but had to be Clear Clear for DM and vWD. She had one in mind and I approached Debbie Cox at her Triple H kennel in Virginia and got approval to use her Rowdy http://www.triplehcorgis.com/rowdy.html.

The whole process took sixteen months with us missing the first season. With a progesterone test the sperm was flown and the process took place in Indiana. Six pups were born and in time two flew in to Dublin with me meeting them. I always take an older dog on such occasions and the pups first walk was around the rugby pitch in Arklow.

Once home training began and in January 2015 I took them to their first Championship show – the Manchester show held in Stafford and under Judge Mr Graham Hill, the Secretary of the Welsh Kennel Club. Zac was against two others and placed second and Zoe against three others and placed third both in Minor Puppy. I also had a puppy dog and being the only one in his class qualified for Crufts as did Zac and Zoe.

At Crufts I had entered six dogs mainly to support other Balletcor owners.  We had an Australian judge, Mr John Burgess from Brisbane. First in was Zac in the Minor Puppy class and up against two others. Zac performed well and was placed first. In the Challenge for the Best Male puppy he was awarded Best Male Puppy. Zoe had to wait as we showed the other dogs and when it came to her turn she was the only Minor puppy in her class and with a faultless performance placed first. In the challenge she was awarded Best Bitch puppy so we had both male and female best puppy and in the final Challenge Zoe was awarded Best Puppy In Breed.

Following Crufts I switched them to the Irish FCI shows under Irish and Continental judges and in a short time both were Irish Junior Champions. They didn’t show much after that as I had other to show and Zac went to help the Marshmere kennel in Co Wexford where he is behind Josh who being Clear Clear produced Irelands first modern day Clear litter of DM clears. One of those Puppies is with our Owner Valentina Gianferrari
